Grell & Watson tracks the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office  and the Copyright Office for news.  Please find their most recent update below.

On October 26, 2019, we are changing how customers access the Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) and TEASi (international). To access and file forms, you will need to log in to a USPTO.gov account with a two-step authentication. These measures will allow us to better track filing activity and reduce misuse of our electronic forms.

You can get ready for this change by setting up a USPTO.gov account. We recommend enabling a phone number or using an authenticator application as a secondary authentication method. Email is enabled by default. Check our Apply online webpage for updates on the new requirements and future enhancements.

Changes you will see on October 26

  • Access to forms: Starting October 26, when you open any TEAS or TEASi form, you will be prompted to log in to your USPTO.gov account with a two-step authentication. We will send you an authentication code during the login process, and you will have to enter the code to access the form. You can choose how you want to receive the code: email, phone call, or an authenticator application. Once you authenticate, you can log in and out of your account for up to 24 hours without a new authentication code.
  • TEAS time out: Your TEAS or TEASi session will time out after 30 minutes of inactivity. You will receive a warning after 25 minutes of inactivity. When your session times out, information you have entered in the form will not be saved. You can renew your session by choosing to continue when you receive the inactivity warning, or keep your session active by clicking the TEAS navigation buttons at the bottom of the form (Go Back, Continue, etc.). To complete a new application efficiently, review the minimum filing requirements and the additional TEAS Plus or TEAS RF requirements, if applicable.
