Can I trademark my bumper sticker?
According to the Patent & Trademark Office: Yes, if you are using a particular word, phrase, slogan, or graphic on a bumper sticker, you may pursue a trademark application and achieve a trademark registration to prevent another bumper sticker manufacturer from using your trademark without your permission. An example of an existing trademark for a sticker is “SCREW YOU, WE’RE FROM TEXAS.” For example, see the mark “Salt Life” to see a registered trademark for a Sticker line. This entitles the owner of the trademark to stop others from using that phrase on bumper stickers without their permission.
To trademark a sticker, the word, phrase, slogan, or graphic must be unique and non-descriptive to merit trademark protection. The United States Patent Trademark Office will reject your trademark application if they determine that your word, phrase, slogan, or graphic is generic, descriptive, or too similar to a prior-registered trademark.
